As above, which company is the best to go with out of the bad bunch. I am sick to death of British gas, their inflated bills and well out estimated bills . Also i found out i am getting charged 24p per day gas and 16.91p per day electric so basically £150 a year before i start using either as a standing charge They give me a load of bullshit that offgem set the tarrifs etc.

so i need to move , who is the cheapest to go with , i dont want any standing charges. I was supprised that if i got a pikey token meter the fees are the same and you still have a daily charge. I would contemplate getting these just so i didnt have to ring up every fucking month and spend an hour on phone trying to sort my bill out getting passed from one monkey to another.

There isn't always a standing charge on prepay meters, depends on which supplier you are with.

Uswitch, money supermarket etc should give you a good idea of who is cheapest, prepay meters are usually the most expensive way of paying for energy though.

According to British gas theirs is the same price. You can save 4% by paying dd but fuck that . I would be happy paying 4% to do away with the hassel

I think they may have been forced to do that by the regulators, I seem to remember a bit of an outcry about the difference in prices but never heard the outcome.

We're on pre pay here, purely because they were already in. I don't mind it tbh, local shop has a pay point so just top up when I'm buying a paper or whatever, it's a good way to keep track of what you are using too.

Just heard on radio British gas profit in 2012 was 606 million, its discusting how they are allowed to earn that when every man and his dog are struggling

Its easy to work the bills out. Knock a little spreadsheet up totalling your annual consumption in kwh. Do a uswitch comparison and it'll work out the cheapest for you. My estimate for last year was 6 quid off my actual usage just by working it out so I didn't get ripped off

I agree baza I don't understand why the government aren't stepping in somehow to control fuel costs, gas and electric is stupidly expensive

Baza, all the companies let you update your meter readings online now, most even have apps, I know for nPower and Scottish Power it takes literally seconds to do it, et voila, no more estimated bills

Should have bought shares in BG!

Why on earth would the government 'step in' when they privatised it in the 80's with the sole purpose of it being a bigger, more efficient company that would in turn generate more revenue from taxes from greater profits.

Blame your parents for voting tories, not the company whose sole purpose is to generate profit for its share holders, not to give you free stuff

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
