Up to you really mark as always pritty much every XE cam cover leaks no matter what. I would use some though to get the best seal you can .

Eurgh, my pet hate! Anything with a paper gasket, shouldn't need any sealer. It looks bodgy as fuck when you see an engine built with silicone hanging out everywehere. Really should be a worst case use only.

That should have said proper really.

But a rubber seal shouldn't need silicone either.
