Dad (works with buses)


Says I should prime my turbo before I try and start car, by removing oil feed, and putting oil into the turbo itself first)


Is he correct?

id do it if you can, just helped when it first spins for a few seconds. Every turbo rebuild place will tell you too, ive always done, use a syringe with a little vacuum pipe, and squirt it down, just lubes everything inside

He suggested using a syringe too, it won't be easy to do due to manifold though

if the car has been running before u fitted the turbo then id say it would be alright cause your guaranteed instant oil pressure, but the way it is probs not, if you dont get instant oil pressure it wont be good for it. maybe connect something to the feed by the back of the block? some rubber hose and a jubilee, pump oil into it with a big syringe or use gravity to pour some though, something to get it in there

i dont but take the oil return of the turbo to make sure there is oil coming out it atleast

It will go all over the shop, and then engine will run with no oil going to it at all?

dont let it run for hours , just take plugs out , pull the return pipe of and crank it over till oil comes out then connect return back up and start it

Method Ben said. Or just put some oil in as your dad said. Both work the same. However I wouldn't fire it on first go without any oil in it.

just crank the engine with CAS off - or anything that will stop fuel....
