I went on a shooting and fishing trip with 2 mates about a month ago. It was an 11 hour drive to a little town called Weilmoringle in the bush in NSW where my mates aunt and uncle live.

this is their house, it is provided by the government as my mates aunt is the school principle and it's not exactly a desirable place to live for most people!

This cabin is where we stayed, it's in the school grounds and is there for any stand in teachers that the school brings in.

this is a school classroom where the 13 students that go there have lessons!

We drove through thursday night so that we could have a full day there on the friday. When we got near the place it was pitch black and there were kangaroos everywhere. We made use of the bullbar fitted to my makes truck as a few roos ran out infront of us and it was impossible to avoid hitting them.

you can see roo blood in these pics:

We arrived at about 5 am and went straight to sleep for 4 hours, then it was off to some farm land to set up the rifle scopes and practice with the various shotguns.

next we spent the day fishing for carp on a local river.

after dinner we went back out in the troopie all loaded up with rifles and went shooting. The targets were roo's and pigs that are out of control in the area. Roos cause a stupid amount of vehicle crashes each year so whilst it felt odd killing them we had to get on with it as it is necessary and encouraged by the authorities. I know lots of people won't agree with this so I didn't even bother photographing this part of the trip.

It was a great first day so we did it all again the next day before heading home on the monday. here's some other pics in no particular order:

fed them to pigs, except for 2 of them that we blasted with a pump action. Carp are vermin over here. if you get caught returning them to the water you can be fined up to 20 grand. i was big into carp fishing in the uk so it was strange not taking care of them.

Yeah it's a beast! 4.2 litre diesel V8. He's spent a fortune on it too. I'm getting right into 4x4's these days, it's really popular here as there are thousands of off road areas.

Not really mate they call em yabbies and if you place yabbie pots out around where you're fishing they tend to go for them rather than your hook bait. Plus they make good eating!
