Tempted to get a tablet at some point soon, but unsure which to go with.

Think you've got the flash bit mixed up, however ipads can do it just fine with a browser like Photon.

Chrome doesn't do flash any more on android. But I'm pretty sure you can get around it with a different browser.
As said, you don't like Apple, so get the nexus. My mate has one and its spot on. It'll do all the other will do at half the cost

Just sideload Flash (thread on XDA with up-to-date release) onto Android if you want.

Is it any android browser that doesn't do flash anymore? Thankfully works fine on my standard one. Maybe cause I'm on an older OS or somethin

Think Apple has the marginally better ratio screen but it is marginal and not worth the extra £100 or whatever it is imo.
Nexus.
Although there was rumours of a new N7 being announced the first half of this year. Gone quiet but I'd do some research just in case...

Nexus 7 is quality. I have flash installed on mine but will have to look at how I did it. It works through firefox and I downloaded an older version of flash from adobes website.
You can install torrent software on nexus 7 and get free apps.
I have Real Racing 3, Carmegddon etc and I also use it as a standalone satnav.
its an excellent device and I use it on a daily basis with my Samsung S3 as you log into google once and it remembers everything you have searched for etc on your laptop, phone and tablet!

yeah its mainly to watch lectures online hopefully (i assume its flash based as they wont work on my phone).
and just general internet searching/maybe some games/sat nav sounds a good idea too.

nexus 7 it is then, ipad doesnt do flash so if there isnt an ios optimised version of a site you need to use regularly it would be no good.
i may be wrong though, not had an ipad for a while now
