I'm transferring my car to my brothers name, as he will own the car and we're putting his private plate on now.

For the next few weeks ill be driving the car, it's insured in my name and not his.

As the registered keeper does he have to be insured on the vehicle he owns ?

Registered keeper doesnt stipulate the owner so while he's the registered keeper, you could remain the owner so to speak.

No the registered keeper doesn't have to be insured on the car.

My girlfriend's car is hers, she's the only one insured on it but her Mum's name is on the logbook.
