iv beeen running abit lately and now suffering the aching muscles for a few days just wondered if there are any foods and drinks that help repair quicker so i can get out running sooner ? iv tried running through the aches but that aint working

Just plow through. It'll stop as soon as your muscles gets used to the work.

But yeah, a bad diet, insufficient water and lack of sleep can prolong the duration of sore muscles.

no not taking anything like that was just thikning snacks at my desk etc that would help

More protein and need to rest. Running through the aches is just plain wrong. You need tort your body recovery. Drink plenty of water as well, not just during exercise.

No it's not, it's exactly the right thing to do.

Of course, you need to listen to your body and not go over board, but sore muscles is nothing dangerous and will usually fade to nothing after a good warm up.
The ache will normally be worst on the second day after training, so if you can't manage a run just save it for day three.

Sore joints is a completely different matter, but that doesn't sound like it's the case here.

You just fuck yourself up more and recovery takes even longer which isn't the right way to go.

I get it in calfs and thighs a lot from biking, if I don't take a rest for a day or 2 the aches never go away or get easier. It's muscle fatigue, you need to rest up not carry on. That's how you damage your muscles.

You need rest when you work out, agreed.

You don't however need to rest every time you're sore. And definitely not for two days every time you've worked out.

If you work out regularly, it's not normal to get sore every time. Sore muscles comes from doing something new.
Look up DOMS, it's a pretty well covered territory.

Specifically running is hard wearing on your joints and running on tarmac with improper (and even proper) footwear can lead to damaged knees, so it's definitely possible to overdo it.

im currently using Adidas marathon 80 guessing there not the best

You should at the very least wear running shoes.

Which type of running shoes you need is very individual and they can vary greatly in almost any aspect.

It's always recommended for beginners to go to a specialist to find the right shoe.
Over here, most proper sports stores will do a free running test to find the type of shoe, that fits your style. I'm sure there'll be places local to you, that does the same.

Still, wrong shoes do not (or shouldn't) cause sore muscles.
They might, however, cause sore shins and knees, which is something to look out for.
