Not certain but it looks the same as the hockey puck on the 1.8t, if it is it'll be to do with the oil breather.

PCV is the proper term.

Thanks Dave, seems my problem is fairly common and on the TDI its called a Puck or CCV! Need to clean it all up and take a proper look where it's coming from. Proper PITA
