I remember when i bought the FG marder some people on here knew about them etc.
Am having some problems with it and hoping i can get some help from here, am using the modelsport forum as well.
Problem i have is on accelerating it really bogs down and makes a strange deep noise, have tried adjusting the carb screws back and forwards but can't improve it.
Wondering if i need to dismantle the engine

It will be the mixture. You need to find out the stock settings for low and high speed needles. Usually flush with the top.

Adjusting the high and low speed needles isn't just a case of turning them in and out.
1/8 of a turn can make a difference.
As Shane said find the stock settings and start from scratch.

Take it to a rolling road and as them to remap it, should iron out the flat spots

Change the plug Mister CM. They foul really badly and won't run for shit.
Got mine out of the loft yesterday to do some fettling.
Immediately got the hump with it when I discovered that the OS front shock has leaked after about an hour's use, plus there's some oily shit all over the drive gear on the diff housing.
AND I bought the wrong sized rear alloy wishbone for it.

As said, get the stock settings for the engine and set it to that, give i the beans and see what the engine does. If it bogs down again then is it spitting fuel out the exhaust? If not its bogging as its under fuelling so give it a bit more fuel as try again. Rule of thumb is that if it bogs at high speed and its spitting fuel then lean it off. Visa versa if its bogging down at high speed and not spitting fuel. Same rule for low speeds. The mix of the petrol and 2 stroke oil needs to be spot on aswell as this can cause issues if its even slightly different from the time before.
Any adjusting of the hi/low speed needles needs to be in 1/8th turns aswell as a small amount makes a lot of difference.

Once primed, the Marder fires on the button with one or two pulls every time and she runs without fault until the tank is empty, which is a long time incidentally.
Plus the fuel it uses, while absurdly overpriced, is still not quite £30 a gallon yet.
She is pretty antisocial though, i.e. louder than any of my nitro cars.

I am going to try it again, and get a video of what it does.
I took the carb apart and couldn't see a problem, it starts well.
Also if i just let it idle it will eventually die and the plug all fouled up.

Silly question... the clutch isn't slipping is it?
I'm wondering if it is, hence the baulking and lots of noise and you've altered the mixture setting/s and given yourself another problem Mr Meal.
Mine's a minter and still getting through it's teething troubles but she runs like a Banshee, so i'm not terribly familiar with running problems, mainly as the carb is still factory set and I haven't changed anything.

If it dies and the plug fouls, i'd say there's either too much oil in the mix, or she's running too rich, or both.
How old is the fuel in the tank? Do you use a mixing bottle? What oil do you use?

Any joy yet Senor Meal?
Btw, some flagrant pic whoring.
The culprit (mine), sans rear wing at the mo...
