Didn't seem to increase or decrease the MPG on my old car when it was remapped

Friend got one of these on a 3year lease, with the 1.6 petrol engine in it (same from a mini cooper S I believe?)
It's hopeless, bits have been dropping off of it from new. Mainly harmless, bits of fake chrome hanging off etc but nearly killed him when the boot lifters failed on him
Also the timing chain sounds like it's about to fly off, and Citroen aren't interested.
He's properly counting down the days to getting rid, such a shame as he was a massive petrol head before and was forced into the lease due to his commute at the time... got rid of a Mk2 Focus RS for it and I think regret is a bit of an understatement.
Sincerely hope his is a lemon and yours is alright, I think they look pretty funky to be fair

depends how you are measuring it - if off the dash then the figure is calculated by injector firing at a given rate before remap therefore will always be incorrect, because for the same injector pulse you will be pushing more fuel as part of the remap

2 at work. No such shoddy build qualities. Other than the gearbox feeling like it has done 100k.

It's not about being happy it's about saving cash?

I went for full on moneysaving mode.. so a 600miles per tank DS3 was the way to go. Going to save me a shed load of cash. Keep it for a few years, get a good chunk in the bank. Then look at getting a weekend car.

They're cable actuated, so it's going to be a bit different to being directly connected to a big ol' gearbox right next to your left leg! Saying that, the 1.6 petrol I drove felt pretty sharp in the gear shift department but I was comparing it to my Punto which was a bit like stirring coal.

You are joking right steve?
More power comes from a leaner mixture, not richer.
leaner = less fuel, more air - mixture. This produces more power.
The problem is, if you go too lean, the combustion cycle will do damage internally... e.g. melt things like valves. This is why most cars have a 'fairly balanced' fuel ratio, no where near as lean as it could go so that no damage will ever be done. One of the key points of a remap is to make it leaner, while still staying hopefully safe.
This is why often you get more power and more mpg.

I tried that, traded the car in within 2months for a loss of £2k to buy the sportier version
