I have read the original support thread to on Dell

The so called official Dell representatives on there are awful, spelling and grammar terrible, writing things like "thru". Also with generic palms off that they will have an answer next week going on for months!

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a glue or adhesive use during manufacture, some of the stuff used tends to smell pretty funky.

My Dells done me proud for 6 years now and running windows 8 like a boss. Doesn't smell of cat piss either
