I have today off work. As well we going into town for other reasons, i made a point of organising my day so that I could stand at Hull's war memorial to show my appreciation with the silence. I must admit that i didn't expect many people to be there, however, there was a large number, which included many old veterans. If it was possible, i'd have taken the time to have shaken the hands of each and every one of them, however, I didn't have the balls to ask any of them. It was quite moving, and the traffic stood still which, considering the placement of the memorial (arguably the main road in and out of the city centre), was quite a sight.
