As a long term boxing/fight fan I tend to think the exact opposite of what they are saying is normally true.

I watched Pacman smash Rios for 12 rounds this morning but had to listen to the HBO commentators, including Roy Jones Jr spout the biggest amount of shite ever about how they didn't like his body language and he wasn't enjoying himself

'keeps' being the operative word. Same as he can stop a fight for numerous hits to the back of the head or low blows. Another 2 things that didn't happen.

He didnt turn his back on to froch? You sure you were watching this fight. He done it twice. The second time he came off the ropes with no defence, had no control over his arms or legs, hence why he turned away and fell into the ref.

His legs were fine and he was punching Froch, what are you watching?

He turned his back twice? Mayweather does it more than that per round. He's still unbeaten.

Right before the ref grabbed on to him, 47 seconds into the video i linked, he stopped punching and trying to defend/dodge froch. He came off the ropes with his head down, arms down, facing away from froch. That wouldnt have happened if he was able to control his arms, body or legs. That to me (and it also very much looked like) he was going down if the ref didnt step in.
Froch clearly had at least another shot or two into him before the ref stopped it / when groves turned away.

He was like a rubber man the last 2 time's Froch layed into him before it was stopped.

If by luck he managed to stay on his feet instead of stumbling into the ref, Froch would have destroyed him.

For a long term boxing fan, you don't seem very clued up on safety or the right time to stop a fight before any serious damage is done.

The ref was in the ring, seen it all, and made the right call. If he never, and it got serious, he would have got alot more shit for not stopping it.

No reason for him to stop it. Crazy decision.

This thread is a typical example of how many on here don't understand the term "opinion". However, i think this is often fueled by people stating their opinion as though it's a fact.

Some people will say it was a bad decision ("he could have fought on and won), some will say that it was the right one ("the fight needed to be stopped before someone was hurt bad).

The beauty is that none of you can tell anyone else they're wrong

Lost count on how many times the commentator said froch was throwing punches without confidence.

This reply is a typical example of how many on here think Aaron is a shitetalking fucker.

It is not an opinion to say he was unconcious, it is a lie. Plain and simple.

When are Hammer and Aaron going to have a boxing match?

Fight stopped too early IMO, but the referee only saved Groves from an absolute pasting that he would have surely endured in that round. Haye was right in what he said after the fight, give the lad a chance to at least weather the storm.

I wouldn't take that liberty.

Saying he could or he would have taken a pasting is not a reason for stopping the fight, despite hearing it over and over again. There should be no need for a hypothetical thesis, the referee shouldn't have even contemplated stopping the fight.

I agree mate. Think how hard he's trained...groves, and the fans, deserved a definite result. Rematch has to happen

But stopping it because he could have done serious damage to Groves is a good enough reason.

That's a hypothetical thesis.

Are you thinking because he was winning on points, he should have been allowed to carry on?? Sounds like that to me.

Did he stop it when froch was on his arse?
Surely he could be hurt after that...

Same as football, fans can tolerate a shit ref if he's consistent.

Didn't watch the fight, but watching that clip, it shouldn't have been stopped. As said numerous times, hypothetical outcomes don't really change anything. The ref stepped in far too early.

9 rounds of blows to the head over 1 round of a few blows to the head.

I would say the ref had more grounds to stop it in the 9th rather than the 1st.
