On eBay Can a buyer claim any money back from a seller if the transaction took place by bank transfer? No paypal was involved. Just marked as paid and posted on eBay.

I am pretty sure the answer is "no"

If you pay by any other means EXCEPT Paypal then the money back guarantee is not valid

This is what I thought.

I sold something and now the buyers trying to get me to give a full refund as he's saying there's damage. For all I know he could of damaged the items himself.

Ebay can settle in their favour and request you do a refund. Whether you choose to or not is your call. Also open to negative feedback also.

I'll accept negative feedback and not do a refund if they rule in his favour as I believe I'm in the right. This is only the 2nd time I've sold something on ebay so not really arsed any more. I think this guy is a chancer as originally he was asking for a massive proportion of the cost back if he kept the items so I told him no as they're worth more than that

Cooperate with ebay, say you'll do a full refund when it's returned. Likelihood is he won't return it. If he does, keep it and don't refund him

I listed as collection only, he messaged asking if he could send a courier if he won the auction, I said yes so that's what ended up happening. So now he wants me to pay for a courier to pick them up. Not a chance.

It's a set of wheels and tyres btw.

Pretty much what Brett said tbh. If it happens, it'll be a rare victory for the eBay seller

Its up to the buyer to return even if its through paypal.. If they are damaged and weren't before, he should claim from the courier...

He reckons the tyres out of shape, they weren't when they left here and I don't know how a courier would make the tyres go out of shape

Just as good will gesture and try to bring it to a close I've offered a £50 refund. When I sent it it said if they accepted it would come out of my paypal account?! That can't be right cos the transaction didn't happen through paypal

Do what shops do, if you return it with packaging in its original condition, you will review and potentially refund.

Chances are he's broke it

Refused my good will gesture and now saying he wants a full refund plus a refund of his courier costs or me to supply 3 tyres of the same make and model. Dream on. eBay doesn't seem to offer me any way of saying that I'm not refunding him either. Guess I just have to report him now and say he's making unreasonable claims?

He booked his own courier, so where is your proof you've even sent the item

I have the collection receipt from the courier although to be fair he isn't claiming he didn't receive them.

It's ok anyway, I've rung ebay and they said because the transaction happened outside paypal they can't just take the money from me.
