my mate has a vtr and he thinks its the nuts always slagging off the corsas, any chance I could wipe the smile of his face with the x14xe would be priceless. surely it can be done im talking acceleration not so much top end.
What do you think?

fast road cams, manztel type inlet manifold, good exhaust system with 4 branch manifold and some form of ecu software to tie it all together should see good gains. around the 115bhp mark.

Then the equivalent is a vts... Both are faster and far more fun..

Corsas look better and are better made.. I would take a nice x14xe sport over a vtr anyday

only thing I've noticed is the steering is noticeably heavier turning left and does not return to centre as well as if you turn right. also the car slightly pulls to the left, I think it might be the steering rack need to look into it.

but not by much for a 1.6 we are level up to 70 I tried yesterday, but he pulled after that. but yes they are faster as I said his is the 90bhp. I know the newer one would kill the corsa.....agreed anyway that they look better than the paxo and nicer inside

My 1.4 SRi C takes mk1 VTRs with ease. Not sure about top end but acceleration wise it pulls away nicely!

1.4 sports are similar to 90bhp vtr's until top end but that's standard for standard, 100bhp later vtr's will be faster again that's standard for standard. The biggest problem with the vtr's is the god awful gearbox its longer ratio wise then the diesel.

Saying but its slow for a 1.6 it is an old basic 8v lump where as the corsa is a rev happy 16v which is a bit more efficient.

Now if you were to compair 16v for 16v the saxo wins hands down whether its a corsa 1.4\1.6 16v vs the saxo 1.6 16v.

I'm not biased either as I've had 7 sports from 1.4 - 2.0 16v which I loved and will agree sport seats are brilliant, I'm currently on saxo number 3 which I've had for 3 years started out as a 90bhp vtr and now has a slightly modded 16v in it. To which I've never had a trouble with either engine or car.
