Right I have a alpine iva-d300r head unit and a tme-m006sp controle unit for rear screen.

Basically I have followed the wiring diagram as I should and the screen comes on but I just can't get it to get a signal from the head unit when DVD is playing (basically blank screen no picture)

I'm using a aux lead as the video input lead. Should there be a proper lead for the job? Or is there somwhere on the head unit menu where I can enable rear screens or something?really starting to annoy me now! So any help at all will be good

An aux lead won't supply a video feed so that's probably your problem. I'm guessing the audio lead only has 2 black rings round the plug jack? Video leads have 3 at least.
