NEWSFLASH: THE WORLD TURNS AND THINGS CHANGE GAF if he plans to close ticket offices, what impact does it have on people? fuck all... 950 VOLUNTARY redundancies (a drop in the ocen, btw) which are hugely hugely oversubscribed.
PS TfL didnt change anyhting to clal off the strikes, they agreed to further dialogue. Crow (RIPs) and his cronies knew another week of the same shit and not only would their members lose any credibility and compassion they may (not) have had, but they would probably start to be assaulted at stations by angry commuters

I actually enjoy going oop north to get away from the hustle of living in a congested place.
Mind you, they do talk funny up there. Fucking idiots should learn to talk properly.

Yes that was his job, but his job essentially boiled down to utilising strikes to blackmail the country in hope of keeping members that paid his cushty jobs salary
Tbf, i'm all for the idea of streamlining the underground network and removing unneeded services (like THIS) if it means TFL can improve on current and implement better services - like extended opening times which would improve things no end in the capital.

tfl changed everything to call off the strikes..as instead of just announcing 950 redundancies they are reviewing everything station by station...a resounding victory for the unions...do u really want less people running the underground...do u really want a station manager every 6 stations..remember the station managers are responsible for station safety...what about blind people and disabled people that need assistance....tbh you sound a bit bitter and twisted because the train drivers earn more than you

Yes because a lot of it, including the actual 'driving' of the trains, could be automated which would help save tens of millions (if not more) every year running the network. Other countries managed to employ automated metro/underground services without issue, so i don't see why we couldn't.
But unfortunately until someone tells the unions to sod off, this will never happen

No one is talking about removing staff from the platforms, in fact it was mentioned that some of the staff from the ticket offices would used to increase presence on platforms.
And similarly, any money freed from closures would help TFL refurb stations to include screen doors (THIS) on platforms which would dramatically improve platform safety.
Tbf, it sounds like you don't really understand how the underground works I also suspect you probably didn't realise Ken was also in favour of ticket office closures once TFL told him how 'often' they're used

No doubt his salary (£145k is what was quoted in the media) and luxury lifestyle helped to ease any 'stress'

He travelled and spent a lot of time away from home...oil workers spend 6 months of the year working and get paid well also, why can't he get well paid when he's working 12 months of the year?

But he wasn't working 12 months of year, he had plenty of holidays and time away In fact, he was on holiday in Barbados when the last strikes occurred instead of sticking around to support his members.
I have no issue about the salary, most contract jobs in the city offer similar; it's the fact he massively took the piss (like staying in his council house) while at the same time keeping networks archaic (specifically the underground) by making it as difficult as possible for the networks to streamline and improve their services.

No he wasn't....shortly before yes but he was in London as you will have found him on a few picket lines.
Like he has said it's not his intention to inconvenience anyone, striking is a final straw for a Government which wants to reduce numbers and make people redundant.
I think people have such a big problem with the RMT because they wish they had someone who was willing to represent and fight for them, I don't think people realise quite how much the RMT do for their members, nowadays when LUL want to sack people for the smallest offences the RMT have represented & successfully prevented this aswell as a lot of smaller cases whereby LUL try to penalise for the smallest mistakes and get shot down by the RMT. Striking is such a small part of getting what you want but that's all narrow minded seem to see, thankfully a few commuters appreciated what the RMT do when I was watching the news reports and fully supporting it DESPITE the fact they were being inconvenienced.
