I'm looking to put a recording camera into my garage and record over IP some how. I can build a VMware server with plenty of disk space or buy some sort of DVR.
Any recommendations?
I have seen kits in Macro for just over a ton but is there something better out there for my money. Think I have £200 in mind to spend.

Grab a DS-2CD2032-I (used a load recently, absolutely brilliant for the money - £120/130 mark) and setup a FTP share somewhere for video/image recordings.

Do those work OK on iPhone and android Dom? I've done some reading and they look good but 1st hand use is obviously good. I'll get 1 to to start with and probably add a couple. Would like 720p+ and not to be spending too much.
I've acquired a 24 port PoE switch if I can fix the power supply so should just need the camera.

We've installed tons of them John with next to no problems. Only problem with them we experience, which won't effect you, is their Tech Support is shite.
In fact it's what we're using in the Nursery and I have it on my iPhone.

Just checked and I can't actually get it any cheaper than £120 from either of our suppliers.

I believe there is an iPhone/Android app for Hikvision's but i've never used it. Rather i've got them piped through Synology's Surveillance Station, which has it's own app, and they perform flawlessly recording at 1080p @ 25fps.
Only grumble i had was that you need to install their wanky Chinese-special software (windows only) to setup IP's (they didn't default to DHCP) on the cameras before you can access the web based admin pages; otherwise they're straight forward to setup.
Ended up getting them from use-ip.co.uk, £122 (ex vat).
Edit - Example of the quality (not mine).

iProsecu is the App I'm using, purely because they said there was 2 they recommend and that was the better of them.

Those pictures look pretty good quality.
I'll just be recording to a share on a windows server to begin with I think.
Will get a thread up if I go ahead.
