Starting a new pc build, some thing that I have not done in about 5/6 years so I am a little bit out off date with the new mods and cons.
Hopefully this little project will take around 3/4 months and I'll be updating every time I receive a new part.
Any help and advice would be very much appreciated 
Very basic spec and open too changes in parts ect:
Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VI FORMULA LGA1150
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K Quad Core Retail CPU 3.50GHz
RAM: Kingston Technology XMP Beast Series 16GB 2400MHz DDR3
Storage : Samsung Evo 840 120GB
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3GB GDDR5 Superclocked Graphics Card ( potential SLI in the future)
PSU: EVGA Super NOVA 850W PC Power Supply - Gold

Should have gone for the 250GB SSD, you soon fill them up! Other than that it looks very good though

3 to 4 months to build a PC? 
What will this end up costing? I wish I could justify the cost of a proper gaming rig.

you mean the most upto date/ current and most expensive parts available?.
I assume you'll be overclocking?. what cooling are you planning on?

I'm doing this via iPhone so sorry if the photos are a bit big  .
By basic I mean my basic outline of main components, things may or may not change.
And not the most exspensive, if so I'd be looking at 2011 socket i7's and motherboards along with 780ti's and titans.
Yeah I'll be looking at a small over clock on the CPU and ram.
Right now all I'm thinking is about having two 140 fans at the front,one 120 fan at the back and then two 120 fans at the top which idk if it's over kill or not. Water cooling too me, is a very touchy area as I have never done it before, and idk if I fully trust my self too fit it.
I would of thought with a decent CPU cooler and decent fans it should keep this system running fine?

Yes pal I'm looking at buying the parts in stages as I can't just go out and splash all the money in one go.
I'm looking at around 1500, but I'd like a high res monitor so may bump it up a little bit more.
The ps4 and xbox one are great for the money, and even have better games at times, so it's been really hard to justify buying a gaming rig.

Have a look at the closed loop water coolers like the corsair h100i, they perform excellently

I'm sorry but this is a REALLY bad way of upgrading.
By the time you finally build it, the first few items will be half the price and something twice as fast will be available for the same price!
Ok, that's a little exaggerated, but it's not far off, particularly relating to the SSD's, these are getting rapidly cheaper and faster and it won't be long till Sata Express takes off.
I appreciate not many people can just throw £1500 at something (me included),but hide the money somewhere and discipline yourself not to touch it.
I've done this several times with my upgrades.

I still haven't brought any majour parts, and I was hopeing the new nvidia cards would have been announced by now, so it would drive down the 770/780's.
I have pretty much come too terms with as soon as you built a system though it will be no longer upto date, and I could off done it cheaper.
And what's sata exspress ? Would I be better off with aASUS Z87 Deluxe motherboard ?

That doesnt fully apply to you... you would be in the category of it now longer being up to date before you've built it 
Seriously, SSDs are rapidly coming down in price now, do wait.

I think there are 2 new connections available, m.2 and sata express.
M.2 basically slides right onto a port on the motherboard and is the shape of a smaller ram chip.

thats what i have ordered for my new rig.
Personally i think the ROG stuff is a waste of time unless your arter huge benchmark figures.
for standard clock your paying double/tripple the price of what you require.

Thanks for the input Bart, just looked on the scan website and found the z97 board for a decent price.
And thanks too every one else's comments, as I said before i am a little bit out of date when it comes too hardware ect so thank you

Echo everyones thoughts in this thread, you can do an upgrade in stages (I'm going to do the same) but you got to be smart about your purchases.
You can get closed loop water cooling systems which seem pretty fool proof now, for example the corsair h100i

I have been looking at the corsair h100i's they seem decent and i personally think they look gorgeous. Just a little bit nervous about going near watercoing on a first build though

Its plug and play..no different to fitting the standard heatsink/ fan.
also, thats again overkill for standard clock/ temps.. the corsair h60 will be more than sufficient.
I have been useing one on my burning rig constantly for 3 years 24/7 without fail.
I have just ordered an Antec kuhler (sp) to replace it... which looks nice also
