Yes I had a gsi a few years back worst car I ever owned, made a nice noise but never really seemed to go anywhere.

I would avoid tbh

the v6 ones are a bit heavy on fuel from what I heard. I had a z22se for nearly 12 years. great car, averaged 32mpg after tuning to 170bhp and loads of other stuff, weighed in at 1700kgs due to sound proofing and stereo. before all that I was getting 37mpg. really miss her
Vectra B is like marmite you either love or hate.
more tuning options for the 2.2 than the v6.
supercharger on 2.2 is around £1500 and your up to 240ish bhp on standard engine and easy to do

Had a 2.6 Sri and loved it. Nice all round motor with plenty grunt. Had a shorter ratio box than the 2.5s and would pull easily from any point in the rev range with no fuss. Had the gsi cams fitted which make a big difference. Mpg on a long run at 60/70 was ok but around town was very low 20s. I would have another tbh.

Had a 2.5 SRi and hated it, slow and thirsty, they look so dated now too.

Probably better off with a 03 onwards Saab 9-3 Aero. Less than £100 remap for 250hp. They look better as well, imo.

Difference being is the Saab will cost 3 times as much as a decent Vectra.

Who remaps them for less than £100?

Aero come up cheap at about £1500-2000. Wasn't actually sure what a decent gsi went for so you might be right. Couple of people can remap them for not a lot of money. Not the 2.8T aeros though, just the 2.0T.

If you pay less than £100 for somebody to remap your car, you are a fool

That statement is wholly inaccurate.

I don't know about the newer saab's but I do know that the old ones can be mapped for free and that various other cars can be comfortably mapped for £100.

I'm sure if you ask nicely then you could pay more.

I don't think the T8 management has been cracked yet as such for home tuners to be doing £100 remaps. Think it's just the big name companies who have the software and you will be looking at 3x as much for them to map it.

Also just had a quick peek and it would seem the arse has fallen right out the 03 onwards 9-3 Aeros. Last year they were holding strong money up near the 3k mark.

I had a 2.6 SRi and it was great. The only reason i had to get rid of it was the airbag lights constantly on (couldnt locate the fault and had a new baby and hormonal misses at the time), previous owner had removed the engine and didnt really fit it back correctly and rust.

Got a Astra G cab turbo to replace it however!

I had a GSi for 1 year exactly (true story), loved every moment of ownership. Would have another tomorrow if I could find as good as one as the one I had.

I had a 2L sri ecotec model vecta b.Only problem that seem common are the rear rose joints knock often and seem to go quickly after replacement.
As said v6 is thirsty but sounds brill when your foot is planted but engines seem to be there downfall.
so stick a c20xe or saab b204 in one and job done.

Got a v6 b, absoloutely brilliant. Been up and down the country in it and no problems. Had a broken alt a while back that was it. Clocked 180k now and still pulls well, passed mot last week with one advisory on a tyre. Obviously v6 is a bit thirstier than the others but it's a v6, you don't go out with a fat bird and moan when she eats a lot

Id a 2.5 sri. Loved it. Hard to beat the v6 noise and performance wise it was just alright. Gearbox was too long and heavy flywheel.
They dont look dated at all. Facelift sri spec and lowered slighty and they are nice looking cars

Didnt try it but g cams and xe flywheel are supoed to completly change them. Can be helped along with a sorter box to

I like the B GSis now, quite rare too as standard.

Poor on fuel though and not particularly quick.
