I have a 1.2 8v and I am changing the engine to a 1.4 8v as I got it cheap, any idea if I can run in with the 1.2 gearbox and what effects will it have on gear ratios etc ? don't really know much about gearboxes

There are a few variations of each box -

Assuming you're talking about a B

C12NZ

F13-5 CR 3.74
F13-5 WR 3.74 of which there are two types, changeover for MY97

C14NZ - 8v single point injection 60 brake

F13-5 WR 4.18

C14SE - 8v multi point 82 brake

F13-5 CR 3.94
F15-5 CR 3.94

There's also no real way to know its got the standard box anyway.

Are both known good? ie. have you driven both?
