I'm looking to upgrade the front brakes on my 1.4 rally car.
I want to keep it on 14" wheels so was looking at mk2 astra 16v but after a bit of research I've noticed 1.6 corsa brakes are as big.
Could anyone tell me if there's any difference between the two or any other ideas ???
Cheers
Mike

16v brakes are 256mm x 24mm, Corsa ones are thinner.

That's what I thought but on the Europarts website it lists 1.6 corsa front discs as 256 ??

I see ! So the thicker disc is the better option

Calipers are bigger on the astra too so there's more surface area on the piston and the discs would take longer to overheat

Sounds good to me ! I can get recipes calipers and discs no problem but seem to be struggling with caliper carriers

V6s will fit under 15s, well worth it imo. I went from 2.0s to the LMF kit and the difference was huge.

V6 brakes weigh a tonne though.

No noticeable difference in handling when I fitted mine and, as said, braking improved hugely. You had to try hard to bake them whereas the 2.0s used to fade after just a bit of a pounding.

Yup, just thought he should know how good the v6s are though so he's not limiting himself too much

Which v6 do you mean the 288 or 308 ? Wonder if the 288 ones would go under a 14 doubt it though

I know 256 are the biggest to go under 14" It's a rally car so want to keep on 14" for better acceleration

If you run braided flexis , some decent fluid like a dot 5.1 shouldn't have any problems, fit a new master cylinder too just incase yours is a bit tired chances are it's been on since new, iirc corsa servo/master cylinder set up is different to other vauxhall models so I don't think you can just lob a bigger one on I may be wrong though iv always done as I said in first part of the post never had issues even on track etc no fade or anything

Cavalier Turbo calipers are better than V6 calipers. Smaller piston so just bolt right on with good pedal feel, not as much travel as the v6 calipers.

I never seem to be able to find a straight answer on them - have you seen meriva master cylinders? Resivoir is seperate so could go upright but unsure if its that simple - ie will it fit corsa servo ect

There`s a non abs 22mm cavalier one that will apparently fit on and the fluid reservoir holes are same, just need some different brakes lines for some reason.I`ve tried getting one from an autofactors but they are no longer kept.
