I have recently replaced the coil packs on my VRS, because now and again when I put my foot down it'd hold back and either the EML would flash and sometimes stay on or both EML and EPC light would come and go in safe mode. I have replaced all 4 coils along with spark plugs and still getting this problem. Now when RAC came out last he said if it does happen again then it's worth looking at the wires leading to Coil 3, I'm not mechanically minded so wouldn't have a clue where to start. I'm wanting to take it to Skoda and leave it there until it's repaired but I'm not willing to pay out X amount or anything for that matter as it's nothing I've done.
Any help please?

Is the car in warranty still? I'm guessing not as you've already paid out for spark plugs and coils.
Common issue can be the loom going to the coils. You don't have to be mechanically minded you are 'looking' at the coilpack 3 wiring. Check them all for breaks, burns, fraying etc...
There is a VAG repair kit for most vehicles.

Maybe the coil packs weren't the problem in the first place, did you just guess or get an actual diagnosis?

I was just about to say, save yourself a whole load of mucking about and just pay someone 30 quid to tell you what's wrong with it. If you're not mechanically minded you probably shouldn't go poking around the HT setup.

Yes, I hooked it up VAGCOM and it came back as Coil Pack 3, so I know for sure it's a problem going to that.

I don't understand... If you've 'diagnosed' the issue, you know what to fix, why does it need to go to Skoda for someone to check the wiring?

Any good vag specialist should be able to sort it and it won't cost the earth. As you've already diagnosed it, he can narrow it down and save on spending time tracing it.

Because, if the wires are frayed or whatever, how do I go about replacing them? Or if it's a bigger problem then what do I do?
Really don't know why I bother asking for help on here all I do is get flamed. It'll be the last time I ask. We're not all mechanically minded, and I thought that there were some helpful people on here, just because it's a Corsa forum doesn't mean that I can't ask questions about a different marque of car.

What these computers (vagcom, tech2, kwp2000 etc) do is tell you the first instance where the problem is picked up.
Every tom dick and harry can buy a diagnostic computer, knowing how to use it and what the codes mean is a different thing.
Picking up a miss-fire at the coil pack doesn't mean the coil pack is faulty, it means thats the first place the engine management has picked up the fault,
It could be the coil packs, but they need to be tested, it could also be several other things.
5 minutes on Google would tell you this is a common problem. we weren't taking the piss because you didn't know what was wrong with the car, it was what you said, that it wasn't your fault so it should be fixed for free.

Yeah totally agree with you with buying a diagnostics computer, many of people I've come across buy the full Ł200+ version just so they can play with the settings of the car (e.g. Digital speedo, alarm chirp etc.) and at the end of the day it's hell of a lot more than just that.
And that's fair enough, I just thought that well as I said, it's a mechanical fault so should that come under any Skoda 'lifetime' warrenty etc, that's all.
