The Vat bollocks does my head in, only the automotive industry seems to think it's acceptable.

I Don't give a fuck what the preVAT price is and you know damn well I dont.

When ever i have had paint done it's been a shit job, even when done through the insurance.

Lemass sounds like it's worth the extra few quid. Loads of good reviews!

There's no way around it in the country.

Insurance companies don't use good bodyshops, they use cheap ones.

Got my puma repaired at a large bodyshop which was insurer approved. Came out full of buffer trails and 2 runs in the paint.

Didn't bother me as it was just a puma, but someone with a decent wagon would most likely be pissed off, or probably not care either tbh.

Not true. Insurance companies will pay more if it's done quickly.

The insurance companies make alot of there money through paybacks from the parts and materials used.

Quick doesn't always mean good though.

Quick means rushed means shoddy.

Personally i've only had one job done through the insurance. My rear bumper needed painting after someone reversed into my car. When i went to collect the car you could still see filler so i refused to take it. A week later i got it back. Weeks later you could see marks where i had slightly rubbed against the paint getting things out the boot. I sold the car shortly after. Was a shit job!

I think Lookers in Liverpool had my car for 6 weeks in total.

It's not VAT I'm complaining about, I know what thats for

My problem is when I wander into a knackered old industrial unit, or barn somewhere - ask somebody to weld a bung into an exhaust pipe and get told it'll be "XXX plus VAT".

None other of my dealings have this, it only seems to be car stuff (and apparently construction stuff too ). It's a habit they're all into, and it's annoying. If I wanted to multiply everything by 1.2 I'd shop at fucking Makro

Guess if they are use to business to business transactions then vat isn't on the price. Like if I contract to a business I quote excl vat to general public inc vat.
