I know there is a few BMW fans on here so was wondering which BMW petrol engine is the best all rounder,i know nothing about BMW's so don't know where to even start with them. Looking for something with a turbo preferably.

You will be looking at 2011 onwards really as they introduced the turbos to the 4 pot

Before this it's the twin turbo or single turbo n55 in three litre form

2.0 with less than 130bhp and a multitude of potential problems. Iirc timing chains are the biggest issue along with a few others.

yeah 2.0 140 BHP - need to ring its neck

However the high reving 4 pots do suit the e90 for some reasosn

The 320i has 170 BHP and feels quick when pushed had

Both are littered with coil issues

Also thirsty engines

Earlier engine is it not? 2006 will be the lower powered 2.0.

Old man had 1 but with the earlier 254bhp engine (later 270) and it went very well. Sounded awesome too.

Surprisingly alot of the petrol engines have just as many miles as the diesels.
