trying to find out how people get/got involved in the training to become a train driver, and what companies take trainees on. ive not seen an offer for training, just for jobs for experienced drivers.
i am interested in becoming a train driver.

There are always jobs being offered in London area. DB Schenker take on trainees. Good wages too once you complete training.
And because I'm nice, I've now added the links. Various UK locations, some passenger, some freight. Some may be out of date, but keep checking the companies as my friend posts about two or three times a month.

I applied last year there was quite a few jobs in the north west area, was unsuccessful, they where advertised on network rail I think.
