I was best man a few years back. As long as you take the piss out of him (you may want to ask how far you can go), mention how great they are together, and raise a glass to many years together, you can't go much wrong I wrote my speech in the car on my way to my mates the day before the wedding. It's a doddle.

Horrible horrible experience , wrote my speech the morning of the wedding. Nervous doesn't even cover how I felt. The brides dad made a complete fuck up of his speech which made me feel better though

Drink enough to take the edge off doing the speech but not so much that you're a cunt. Watch YouTube videos and see how others deliver speeches and see if you think any of is worth taking and adapting to your speech. Most importantly, enjoy it.

Don't use the age old line of
"I was told the best mans speach had to last as long as the groom does in bed" and then sit down and pretend it's over.
Must of heard that at the last 8 weddings I've been to

Got my brother next weekend I'm joint best man at.
Go a write a few pointers and make the middle bits up but I'm good at talking shit.
Luckily there doing speeches before food so not going to be nervous through that. Don't drink to much!!

I went to one of my birds families wedding recently and the best man gave me a key first thing in the morning and said keep that for later. Was completely perplexed by it.
Half way through his speech he said about how the groom had gone to Iraq and left him with a key to his house to look after the place and make sure his missus was okay. Then said 'so can anyone that's got a key to Terry's house give it back now they're married' and placed a jar in the middle of dance floor.
About 40 fellers all walked forwards with the key they had been given by the best man that morning.
Had to be there to get the full effect but one of the funniest things I've seen

I was joint Best Man to my mates wedding on Friday, went really well actually I wasn't that nervous as I only did my grooms speech at my wedding last year. Plus the other best man was so nervous it made me feel more confident!
The bits you have to include, toast to the bridesmaids, and toast to the bride and groom at the end. Anything else is your choice. I basically started off nicely and thanked everyone for turning up and looking great, then did a few take the piss sentences, then got serious and did toasts and called bride beautiful etc which wrapped it up nicely.
2 mins 30 seconds long which I think was perfect
