Don't really speak to our neighbours.
The mother likes to be friendly with them, I usually grunt or nod so I don't seem like I'm being a complete arsehole. In not rude I'm just not interested in small talk

I treat em how they treat me, general rule in life tbf
one of my neighbours is complete and utter cunt so i never speak to him but the otherside are lovely old couple, no bother what so ever, always happy to say hello and stop for a chat if needs be

Would you agree that ignoring someone is awkward for both of you but at least if YOU make the effort its only awkward for them and that's their problem

I am friendly with my neighbours, always give a nod and say hello when I see them and generally works in your favour! I recently had to replace a few knackered fence panels and without asking they offered to go halves From what I have heard from people stuff like fences can cause quite big arguments
