last year, i was insured with admiral. my vehicle is insured as van with 5 seats and modifications such as lowering and alloy wheels.
this year, it is insured as the same. and with the same company. however, i cannot drive other vehicles. last year i could. ive tried a couple of insurance companies and they all say that i would be insured to drive the van only, nothing else. this however causes issues as i cannot drive the girlfriends car when required.
does anyone know of a way to insure it being able to drive other vehicles also? or do i have to some how classify it as a day van instead of just a van? its only insured for social domestic and pleasure as it is never used for work purposes.
thanks.
ps, i know i can just get added to the gf's policy, but id prefer to have the flexibility of being able to drive anything else i need not just her car.

You'd have to change the classification on the logbook I would assume?

I used to insure mine as a camper van with mods. It was cheaper then van insurance but I can't recall if it allowed me to drive other vehicles.

Go through with your initial story from 6 months ago and buy an m5, then insure it so you can drive vehicles 3rd party on that policy then drive your shonky pedo bus that way.

I'm on Trade Wise now. Cost £1600 for myself and the mrs on the policy. Supports vans and allows you to jump in any vechicle 3rd party.

That's very expensive. My current policy is only £170 for the year.

I don't need or want trade/commericial insurance as its not used as anything other than a car would be. I think it's due to what it's classed as in the log book, which I believe is hard to get changed?

Nice!
I was paying £700 on the Focus and 207. I've since got a pending claim as some bellend went up the back of me. Insurance doubled on a standard policy so went with this. Added the Corsa and both Pumas which is handy.

Depending on the company your girlfriend is insured with, if you become a named driver on her insurance some companies allow the named drivers to drive any car 3rd party as well as the policy holder

Insured just on the girlfriends policy now so I get to pimp about in the x6 tomorrow. Cool stuff. Will still need to sort out my own policy in the future somehow.
