Has anyone been to Calgary before - flying out next week with work and have a bit of spare time so just wondering if anyone has any tips on what to see
Banff is on the agenda - got an overnight stay there but looking for anything else that's recommended

A good friend of mine lives in Calgary now. I can ask him for info if you get nowhere with replies on here.

Stayed at Banff springs when I was younger when I went snowboarding there. Was an amazing hotel.
Went to a ice hockey match which was good fun if you get the chance. Was about -20 as well.

Update the thread on how it goes. The Mrs has reluctantly agreed to move out to Canada in a few years

I'm told...
"It's either snow and cold or warm and mosquitos. If travelling in winter it's kind of limited. There is the Calgary Tower but it's kind of boring. Stephen Avenue is good for drinks and food but probably not on your own. Would say spending most of your time in the mountains over winter is best."

I would go to an Ice Hockey game over there. Always a good night out, We went to one of the lower league games (Vancouver Giants) and it was great fun.

It does look like BC is taking a hammering at the moment. Ski resorts opening early - Whistler opening tommorow!
