So, haven't posted for a while due to parenthood etc but have been lurking. Last car I had while posting was the RX8. Sold it on and bought a saab 9-3 2.0t. Few mods, 220bhp but was starting to show its age, felt tired.

Sold it on to my mate who kicked it's cunt in and burnt out the clutch.

Next up and current car is a Mk1 Octavia vRS in yellow. Had to be yellow as the others don't really do it for me. Really liking it, 210bhp and just a fantastic all rounder and slightly understated.

Never been keen on those. From the side profile, you can see the God awful rear 3/4 where it appears the designer couldn't figure out whether he wanted it to be a saloon or hatchback, so thought fuck it, and ended up doing a proper bodge hybrid job.

Power wise, they seem to go well.

That's 1 reason it had to be yellow lol. Hate the side to rear profile on them and the lairyness kind of detracts that from the eye, slightly lol. Not as mundane looking as silver and black either.

Decent wagons - especially as they pretty much cost pennies these days, but starting to look their age a bit now IMO.

So had the vrs up for sale and decided to keep it but forgot to remove 1 of the many Gumtree ads. Guy text about it, viewed it and bought it for what I thought was decent money considering. Hunt was on for its replacement when this popped up 10mins along the road so had to see what it was all about. It's a 2005 95 Aero estate. Owned by a 76 year old. Full service history 90% saab. Fully loaded 5 speed auto with steering wheel controls. 2.3t 250bhp and for a 1.6ton car it can shift. Best £750 I've ever spent.

I'm tempted to get it mapped but with my 93 after I got it done I was chasing ignition problems which was faulty coils but not sure if I want the possible hassle. Mapper did say that once mapped it opens up the hidden functions in the SID and much easier to find faults as can read live data. £85 will see 275bhp and 310 lbft.

Karl aka saabnoob/noobtune. When it comes to mapping T7 and T8 management he's meant to be 1 of the best. Couldn't fault the map on my old 93 tbh.

There's nothing wrong with it. Guy knew it was worth more and when he asked the garage that's looked after it for him what they would pay they told him book price which was £750 and rather than give it to them to sell on for double he would rather see it go to a private buyer. Told me he didn't need the money but wanted to sell the saab and his 1 series and get a Honda hrv. It's only done about 6k in the 3 and a bit years he's had it.

I've been keeping an eye on 95 Aeros for a while and they seem to get snapped up quite quick compared to lesser models so shouldn't have much bother shifting it. It's well spec'd too and the estates aren't too common and being a 2005 shark front it has the updated pcv system so isn't as prone to sludging like the 00-02 models.

It's done 151k but has been looked after and drives mint, can't fault it mechanically. The 95s are known to be well built and it shows.

It's a keeper. Can honestly say if I got offered double the money I wouldn't sell it anytime soon. It's no nae hot hatch but does everything else effortlessly.
