I know this has probably been asked a million times before but my alloys are in a pretty poor condition.
I washed the car for the first time in about 6 months today. Being a mountain biker Muc Off was at my disposable, so I used that to get rid of most of the brake dust build up etc. Most of it come off when scrubbing with a sponge.
However there is some residue left on the alloy which is more like glue. It has the resemblance of liquid that has dried on, rather than dust. Using my finger nail it can be scratched away, so most likely needs some abrahsive, but I don't want to use anything that might damage the alloy and lacquer.
I've used the Autoglym alloy wheel cleaner before but isn't much stronger than Muc Off.
Is there such a cleaner than is likely to "soften" this residue enough that it can then be removed with a sponge without the need to scrub or scourer the alloy?

You'll need a product such as iron-x to get that residue off.

I found bilberry average tbh. Of course, you can change the ratio of product to water, but I just didn't like it.

Autosmart smart wheels. £14 for 5 litres from the guy that sells it around here. Dilute it so lasts ages.

It sounds like you arent that big on car cleaning. Why not take it down to your local foreign car cleaning place. They will have some wheel acid that will get the rims so clean you can eat your dinner off them.

I begrudge paying anyone to clean my car when I can do it myself in an hour. I just haven't as I don't care for the Fiesta that much. And I have to go to parents as I live on main road.

Autosmart Smart wheels us what I use on regular basis at different mixing ratios.
They do a new product called Red 7, it's a wheel cleaner and fallout remover in one. All dilute down.
