I am looking at buying a laptop, and was wondering if anybody on here has one and what they thought of it. I am looking at a laptop round £600 - £900 with about a 2GHz processor and 256 Mb and ideally a DVD player. Can anybody recommend any ?????? Cheers in advance 4 any help !!!

look at dabs.co.uk. we've bought a laptop for £780, called Compaq Evo N1015v AMD Ath XP 2000 XPP. its got a 1.67 Ghz processor, 256Mb, DVD-ROM, CD-RW. Its a really good buy, so might be worth looking there.

for that amount of money look at packard bell(NEC) I had one but was only 128mb but 2.0ghz celeron processor it also had dvd ad that was £899 from pc world but they always have good deals so you mnay get some thing better for the amount of money you have.

is it quick enough for you doing things like word processing and surfing t'internet and maybe playing the odd game or does it take ages to load anything ???

no it was fine mate better if you have broadband aswell but fast enough for most applications.

think the one I had was i-go4000 but there is one above that with a cdrw.

lol, dont buy from PC world, they are shite and overpriced. and packard bell is not one of the best makes

i'm just browsing through dabs.co.uk and there are loads for round £500 to round £750. The things that they ain't got is a decent graphics car cos i wanna be able to play sum games during lessons at college !!! Corsakitten wot are ur graphics like on your laptop ??

yeah thats the cheapest we found at that spec, its got an S-video out too, which means u can run DVDs out of it to the TV to watch them on wherever u are. I recommend it anyway

I've just found the 1015v with 128 mb and just a dvd player. I might go 4 that and upgrade when i want cos u can get up to 1 gb RAM anyway !!! Cheers 4 all ur help in spending me money
