ive read reports that say ordinary cloth distorts the sound of speakers. ive just coated my parcel shelf with ordinary felt type material. am i really gonna notice much difference?

i wouldnt think that cloth would affect sq that much.
if you find that the cloth moves a lot when your speakers are running, maybe you should try a finer cloth, just so that the air can get through.
if your worried about distortion, then idaelly you shouldnt run 6x9s with a sub, frequencires caused by the sub tend to clash with those form the 6x9s
