I'm after a new set of wheels, but the choice is limted because of the et49 offset. I've heard that et45 is reasonable. Will et45 affect the handling?

think there might have been a hint of sarcasm there, can't see 1mm making an awful lot of difference, but i don't claim to be an expert on Cars, so i could be speaking utter crap

et50 on 17's will catch the the rear suspension
et45 for 16's or 17's is ideal
anything from et42-et49 for 15's, anylower and u'll get scrubbing

will probably be fine as you'll have a thinner tyre 195/45, than that of the 17 (205/40)

Don't forget, you can always use spacers if the worst comes to the worst.

Yeah as said ET45-49 on 15's will see a very nice fit, ET45 on 17's and 16's is your best option, ET40-45 on 15's and you should still be OK with a little work put into it.

Yeah but none of these are the correct offset. Fair enough they wont foul da arches, but do they effect the handling?

ET50 on anything 16 and upwards will cause you hassle simply because it will rub against the inner arch if i'm not mistaken

45 is about the smallest you want to go, its not so much the wheel scuffing you want to watch (you can always cut the plastic arches back a bit) its the handling. Vauxhalls and particularly Corsas are cranky about the offset. It affects the front wheel geometry. I've fitted 45's and they tramline slightly ie follow road undulations and at speed tend to like to go in a straight line. With a lot of power you'll get more torque steer as well (boot it and it flies to one side!) I've no complaint about mine but it can make your drive a bit of a battle on bumpy roads, still I always wanted forearms like popeye!! On the upside the 45's stick out more and make the car look really chunky and the wider wheel base should in theory improve handling. Mine are ET45 15" 195 on 45 profile and I'm well chuffed with them. Neil

the wheels will fit fine sunny, although can u not get the same wheels in et45?
if you can get them in et50, i'd have thought they came in et45 also. might be worth asking the geezer in the shop if he can get them in et45
