Wouldnt work because house DVD players need 230V and in a car you can only get 12V.

No mate you can buy an invertor which will allow it to run in a car. Invertors arent small or that cheap, add that to the dvd bill and you may as well have bought and in-car DVD player!

Ah well, I was wrong, just seemed to make sense, thought about an inverter but then just thought it wouldnt be worth it.

Depends on how many watts you want from them.
As little as £29.99 for a low power one (which is all you need for a dvd player)

Dont even try a home DVD, it WILL skip like MAD and the sheer size of most of them makes them useless for car fitment.

I'm using a Cyberhome DVD in my car. Get a invertor off Maplin for £19.99 (150watt one will do plenty)

£70 quid for an in-car dvd player aint bad
The dvd is quite small, slightly bigger than a head unit width wise, and was brought from WHSmiths for £50. Plays every CD format under the sun, in any region (DVD, MP3, VCD.)

THe DVD has scart out and phono out (yellow/red/white)...so yellow phono goes to screen.
