It makes a grindin noise when i turn but i have taken the wheel off and nothing seems to be catching, anybody else had this problem.
Also now i have put the steering wheel back up it is to tight and really hard to steer?
Any advise

non air bag and its not the original it is a simoni but i have never had probs before.
I was looking for the noise problem but i think i have now put the wheel on too tight but if i slacken off the nut it makes no difference?

I think the problem might be down to either the 'boss' or like the plastic surround thing around it? A guy I know with a mk2 Golf had a similar problem with an aftermarket steering wheel, I can't remember what he said it was exactly though, sorry...

take the wheel of and inspect the back of it
especially the brass ring that is used as a contact for the horn
i had a wheel on my old corsa that done this, and the reason was the ring on the back. whoever had removed it before had used a screwdriver inbetween it & housing to force it off
this bent the brass ring, causing it to grind
