Cleaned the engine bay today, and it ran for a while on 3 cylinders, backfiring a lot. Now my induction is much louder and all power has disapeared. Could this be because the ECU has remapped on 3 cylinders, or timing belt has slipped a tooth while it was backfiring? Cheers

tried reseting ecu? don't think it would have reset to 3 cylinders unless u did it ur self? could be wrong.

did you clean it with a pressure washer or loads of water, if so i would think some things got wet that shouldnt have, probably some thing to do with the ignition

sounds to me like you didn't cover everything with cling film or similar first, just use some WD40 on ignition components and dry up everything you can, pay particular attention to distributor, ht leads, coil, spark plugs and you should be back on ok
