eg. Honda vetec.....either 1.6i 16v as standard has 160bhp or even 2.0l which has 200bhp
has anyone ever tried this? or do they just not fit no way?

why would you want to rip the 1.6 vti out of its lush engine bay?
leave civics alone......

the thing that honda ppl always go on about is how tough the vtec engine is....ie. can handle aftermarket turbos and big ones at that, NOS etc....1.8 vtecs have been tuned to 400bhp. As I said if they fitted in a corsa engine bay then......then again there is no chance of gettin that sort of power to the ground unless you sumhow made it 4x4...hmmmm

the point is take dave pattersons corsa...0-60 in 5 ish secs....maybe slightly more on the road this is. He would keep up with evos and scoobys without too much probs. Now if a civic vti obviously highly tuned killed an evo/scooby that driver would be pretty gutted. But if a corsa came along and did the same thing I think the evo/scooby driver would be pretty shocked for a long time. I'm sure he'd be interested why he just got burnt up by a vauxhall but he'd never find out cos he weren't quick enough.
All this would cost shit loads of money but if anyones got the money I would love to see it done.

Well as a guideline, for all the parts and to do the conversion of putting a 1.6 VTEC into a Mini Clubman you are looking £4000 and to get it fitted you are looking around £7000.
Of course that includes the brake upgrade, suspension upgrade and all that but just to give you an idea.
And thats in a clubman which have the space in the engine bay to take a VTEC.

Blow it on something actually worthwhile, like pokies, piss and prosties! Juz jokin'!
Really defeats the purpose of buyin' a Opel though. It'd work, but you might as well just buy a Honda. I say keep it in the family. Go the 2.0l or a 2.2l or something, if ya wanna tease the big boys.

Why not get the 2.0 Turbo unit from a Cavalier or Calibra and chuck a Stage 3 upgrade on, and while you are at it, full 4WD. Then you will be flattening most cars on the road.
