Thinking about getting LED lighting inside the car, as it use less power than standard neons and produces the same if not more light... also they cost less.
I already have the 12" Slim Neoquip Blue neons, cost £45 delivered.
But just come across this website - http://www.3dzled.com/vehicle.html
Which offers LED ligth bars, the same size as the neoquip ones for £19 each, going down in price the more you order.
They fit in the same whay etc...... and run from 12v, etc... etc....
What do you think?? Good Idea, to buy the LEDs for the above reasons or not?? The reason I ask is that I want some for the back of the car and a couple in the boot, so thought about upgrading the lot with leds??

you know what i think mate, leds all the way, look trick when hooked up to a controller as well, a lot brighter as well that a neon. put them underneath the car as well instead of neons

Yeah definatly getting LEDs under the car, but wanna get the inside sorted first, already spent £45 on neons now ive seen these I want these 
If it worth upgradeing?? Is that a good price....
You you wanna get some together SKI, that way we will save money as we will be ordering more??

Take a look in my garage pics, with a length of twin cable and a few leds you can light up anything really cheap. Just 3 leds will light a footwell no problem.

i might do, depends what the price is as just spent another £200. do you do uv leds cobra and how much? do you sell resistors and wire too hook them up as well?

AJ, would you want them with the led soldered on already? I usually do the led/resistor for £1.25 each, if you want 50 I can do them for £38, thats a saving of £24.50

Yes, UV leds are not a problem. I can do a led complete with resistor if you want to make up your own led"rope" or I could buy some cable and make them up to your spec possibly.

got me some focus wide arches because of the width of the bumper on the car i think it will look better and mean i can drop it more when i decide to do it, and maybe help with the side grills on the bumper also as i think one will definately have to go, and then got some new spots to go in it

cobra148 - the ones in the link I provided are 305mm in length, 10mm in width and contain 24 LEDs... they cost 19.99 and are already so they can be plugged in/wired to a 12v power supply.

Hmmm..If your gonna need anti stat gloves to handle them, your gonna need to be wary where you mount them.
SMT leds will not be particularly bright at all, they are a similar type to those in mobile phones. I would bet that one single 10k blue led would give more light than 24 top leds.
I've got no prices as I have never sold any of these, it was just a Sunday afternoon project with a length of twin cable and a couple of leds.
These rope leds are flexible and can be mounted anywhere, the ends can be left bare to connect to any 12v source in the car or fitted with a ciggy lighter plug, no need for a transformer as the SMT's need.

Heres an example. This pic is of a single 3k white led, look how much light it gives compared to 24 of the SMT leds. If a 3k is this bright, immagine how a 10k would look. A few of these strategically placed in the car would make the whole interior glow.

Cobra what value resistor is it you put on they led's and is it clear or diffused u use in the footwell pic? I had a quick go with a clear blue led and the light was just focused on 1 bit.

good places to look are maplin who do allsorts of electronic stuff or even on ebay where you can get ultrabrite ones fairly cheap

The value of the resistor will depend on the spec of the led.
A typical led operating at 3.3v @ 20ma will need a resistor of 435 ohms. The nearest stock resistor to that would be 470 ohms.
