i got some 16s on my C sri but i wana get some 17s, probly 2nd hand. what does Et 40 and Et 45 mean?

that is the offset number. The space between the centre hub and the face of the wheel. A larger number means the wheel sticks out. A small number means it does not. Perfect offset for vauxhall corsa is ET49

the offset on your sri rims is et40 so go for some wheels the same offset thats what i did and mine don't rub or anything.got 17's on my corsa c

the smaller the number the further the wheel sticks out

ie et35 will stick out further than ET45

et is measured in mm so difference between et35 & et45 is 10mm

who is right - one of you says the bigger the no. the further the wheel sticks out, the otherone is sayin the opposite?!?
