oh and another thing, what size fuse do i need for that lot - i've got a set of 50amp ones, does that sound about right?
also do i put the same rating fuse in the 2-way fuse block and the fuse next to the battery?

You have brought a Fused Distribution Block.
3x4AWG IN and 2x8AWG OUT.
Bascilay Battery>Power cable>Fused Distribution Block> ( Splits into 2 and goes to power the amps )
Yes 8AWG is Fine.
For more powerfull Systems putting out 1200wrms and 2x200rms i will be Running 0AWG from Battery to Fused Distribution Block then split into 4AWG into the amps.
Hope that helps.

wicked m8, cheers for your help!
what about the fuses? How do you work out what amp fuse you need?
also i have 2 fuses on the distribution block - are they supposed to match the one next to the battery?

Savinforcorsaproject, why not get a second battery in the boot which you will probably need, then just run the fat cable from that battery like normal, and charge that battery with a split charge wiring system (like im about to do it mine! )

Well be on the safe side eh, and the knowledgable side.
The fuse upfront is going to have to be larger than the ones in the distribution block. Say the Alpine was 40amps and the other was 30amps then upfront you should get a 70amp fuse. And in the distribution block you should use a 40amp for the wire going to the monoblock and a 30amp for the other.
To work out the correct fuse ratings, check the side of ur amplifier and you should be one or more fuses. For each amp whatever fuse is on the amp is what size you should put in the distribtion block.
