Thinking of fitting a GSi dash to mi car. Its only a 1.2 8v base model so will the connections be there or is it gonna be a bitch to sort out a rev counter?

aha, ive done this, its not so straightforward as a simple swap.
assuming you have a newer corsa with a K= number and not W= on your speedo,
first you have to get a petrol dial set with the same k= number.
then you have to gain access to the ECU, find the green wire, hook a voltmeter to it and rev the car, the voltage should go up with the revs if you have the right wire.
then you need to connect a wire to that contact, however you see fit, (i jammed the wire in the same plughole insulation taped it good and proper in place) then you have to put the wire in the 5th slot from the left on the top row of contcats on the block in the hole in the dash where the clock unit goes.

mine doesnt have any extra wires, i have been informed that at the beginning of 97 R vauxhall decided that it was too costly to fit all corsas with full wiring, so took out whatever wiring was not needed at the time, mine didnt have a rev wire, rear speaker wire, boot light wire, central locking wires in the door or boot, the list can go on..

If u own an LS u will have all necessary connections.
If its a merit, u will not.
simple.

mines a merit and i had to install the wires myself. first i got a diesel clockset too, which meant my car limited itself at a reported 3500rpm, which scared the shit out of me at first, then i realised what happened and told my mate i had dropped a 300BHP engine in it and revved to 3000rpm. and he sort of believed me cos it was revving it tits off.
the place i bought the dials off sent me a petrol set free of charge too, allvox, brilliant spares shop
