Is it just a figure of speach for saying i quit to ya boss, or do you have write it out?

Never had to do it before so wouldnt know what to write, apart from, i am leaving...

It's always polite to say a thanks in there even if your boss is a complete prat cos if your relying on them for a reference then it works in your favour.

Also give your boss a chance to talk to you about it because if you're leaving over a purely pay-related reason they may be inclined to sort you out if they want to keep you.... (depends on what ya job is tho...)
