hi all,
just took off the passengers door panel and took out the speaker only to find that my phoenix gold R6.5's are too deep . There about 3/4" too deep, and that with the adaptor fitted (which i thought would be as deep as the old one, but isnt byabout 1/2"). OK, so what can i do?? I cant build a door pod or anything, so thats outta the question. I need it to butt up to the grill and that might clear it. Although one idea is to stop the window going down as far...but what determins how far the window goes down? Is it a switch or what?
I should have measured it all up before hand, rather than taking someone else advise that they fitted oh wells...i might have a set of R6.5's for sale if i dont get them fitted.
Dom
p.s - please help, my old man is doing a nut
edit: for future reference, 2" is the about the max depth of any front speaker than can be fitted in a corsa B with the grill on.

You could make the hole in the door bigger easy, and you could get astra van spacers to help you out

well i did post them up for sale, then my bro came around and we tried them in his and they fit no probs, so it looks like he might get them.
make hole in door bigger...yea i would like to have done that, but dad is a grumpy git and sad "next time get ones that fit the car"...the usual B/S.
Although ill look into the astra spacers
cheers mate

really tho?? honestly?? once ive finished these, i may look into knockong some up, or selling these i dunno. Would be quite good idea tho, making and selling builds, how much u reckon they'd be worth though? cos people would see them as second hand and worth not a lot. For a proper set of builds, most ICE places would charge £200 upwards. That's when they're done properly with fibreglass and alcantara etc. not cut about expanding foam with some box carpet liberally glued over it!!

Id have em sprayed up the same colour as me car when i get the paint job. Unfinished (not sprayed or covered) id be very willing to pay £150 - £175

There has been a major blow to Tim's car, its being booked in with specialists first cos there is a good chance the chassis is fucked!!
I reckon people who want door builds and see the quality would pay

HOLY SHIT!! Hope his cars ok, that'd be really gay if its knackered. Would he sell it to some unsuspecting wanker or use it for a show car only??

Yeah if it turns out to be totally unsafe to drive it will more than likely become a trailered vehicle
