Took ou the drill on Saturday moring to drill the airbox opened the bonnent to find that there a breather pipe going from the front of the airbox over the radiator and taking in air at the from grill. Its not homemade like its installed by vauxhall. so im thinkin theres not much point in drill the air now?
Not thaqt there would be much point anyways its only a 1.2 8v

Are you talking about the standard air intake? Plastic oval type thing.... Of course it will have this!
Just the whole setup is quite restrictive.

it makes a slight difference in sound drilling the airbox, i did it but wasnt particularly happy with it, so i bought a pipercross induction kit, now it revs free'er and the engine feels like its not trying as hard, which is nice. plus it sounds like a mad beast

Errr that be a pipe running from the exhaust manifold. It is designed to open and close inside the airbox, to allow warm air from the manifold to be sucked in, it helps the auto choke when starting from cold. If you look inside the airbox, there is a valve on a spring which opens and shuts.

Cyber, it aint
he's on about the feed going from the front of the box to the slam panel
the exhaust manifold one connects to the side of the airbox

and if you put an induction kit on it (not reccomended), make sure you seal over the hole coming from the exhaust manifold, ir it will pump hot air straight into the engine bay.
That small valve inside the airbox actually opens slightly when driving easy, and when you ask for full throttle, it completely closes so only cold ambient air can reach the inlet.

Well i thought that would be pretty obvious what the feed was?? I thought he was going on about the exhaust manifold pipe

i go confused by another post saying cut a big hole in the front of the air box and run a pipe from there to the grill area dont think it would make that much different unless the pipe was rediculously big and as ive mentioned before with the tinny bopper engine would be worth the hassle
