hey ppl wired up a cap today and put all the ice back in and it didn't work, digital display doesn't read anything, so i guess it doesn't work. i'm sure i've wired it up properly.

i put the main feed from the batt to the positive on the cap and then a wire from the + on the cap to the + on the amp. i then wired the - negative on the cap to the earth on the amp. this is what it said to do in the instructions, so am at a loss

will try and post a pic later on

cheers for any help

You can earth anywhere, just drill a small hole and then scrape paint away from around the hole then use a self tapping screw to attach wire

You connected a remote lead to the cap?

on a relative note- is it possible to wire from the cap into a fuse block ( one of those things that splits the main power cable into 2 cables - one for each amp - dont know the name of it) and then onto the amps

Yes it is possible but not advisable as the ESR value would rise and the benifits of the cap would be decreased.

Would be better to get two 0.5 farad caps for each amp on their power cables, or 1 farad each if they are strong bass amps.

Amps that run components ect wont require a cap.

The cap has gotta know when to turn on otherwise it will drain the battery. There should be three connections on the cap. One for earth, one for the positives and there should be a smaller one marked 'REM', 'REMOTE', or 'P'.

The remote lead is the blue wire which switches on your amplifiers when the headunit comes on.

mate that is no way to wire your system.

Pop out to halfords and get some proper ring/fork cannecters to crimp onto those cables.

And the cap automatically shuts off. Once the engine is started and the system turns on, the cap kicks in and voltage should be displayed.
