induction kit may be losing power, as it will be sucking in hot air

i got a 1.6 GSI and 17's, i find my motor quite slow to pick up too, must be the wheels mate, i had a corsa C SRI trying to keep up with me one day i was pulling away slowly then got to a cetain speed and it was good bye SRI, think SRI's are 1.4's???? but you shouldnt have 1.2's keeping up with ya, when my car comes back next week im gonna stick me 15's on see what difference it makes i will let ya know

cheers peeps. im gonna try 15"s like, getting it dropped 40mm soon too coz my car sits up rediculesly high! sure im loosing alot of acceleration through the front end lifting! dont know if anyone else has found this to be a problem?

well if ya tyre height is 45 then ya acceleration will be worse than mine cos you will have a bigger rolling diameter, im down 60mm, no lifting of the front cos my suspension is rock solid, lol, its horrible, thinking of changing it soon, only drove with it down 60mm 3-4 times

do you think i'd gain alot from dropping it? because in all honesty, its rediculous watching my car accelerate away, the front end lifts stupid amounts and the back end nearly scrapes the floor. stiffer susspension should do something for it

if you lower it you should get traction down a bit better, when it lifts at the front its essentially removing the weight from the front wheels to the rear wheels, so i say lower it, not with 45 tyres though lol they will scrub, looks better too and improves handling, wont gain acceleration really if ya had a stupidly powerful engine it would be a concern cos you would get wheel spin but not at the mo, just lower it man

nope, but if i ever need to, or if i ever blow one up, i know who to talk to! seeming how greasemonkeys been through 3 already,
just joking- not power crazy, just think in sown on acceleration thats all. abit dawnting knowing that a 1.2 can keep pace with a slightly modded 1.6 when they're standard

LOL!!

i cudnt b bothered to read the whole thread this time, just the first post, and yes there is something wrong is 1.2 8v's can keep up with u to any speed.

A 1.6 16v should PISS all over a 1.2 8v at any speed. It could be down to ur driving, coz with those mods, ur car shud be running 115bhp. A 1.2 8v has 45bhp. No contest, woteva way u look at it.

there is definatly somthing wrong somwhere, i have 17's and it really dosnt make much difference,

follow dangerous dfaves advice and get it on the rollers to see whats goin on

p.s. i very much doubt you would have anything near 115bhp with those mods, more like 110 at the most.

Sorry my mistake, i was gettin confused with the GSi engine that had 109bhp to start, which responded very well to breathin + Zaust mods

Yeah, 110ish wud be realistic on that engine. Either way, over double the power, 1.2 8vs shudnt b any where near u.
