im getting HUGE government back pay thingy next month!! should be just over 3k bonus - hate to think of the tax ill pay on that!!

Not at all, some places will arrange for ur bonus to be paid 'gross' ie they add an amount equivalent to PAYE/NI to it so that u get what u are due
