I may be getting one of these in may, what do you reckon of them?
Performance figures:
0-60 - 9.2 seconds
top speed : 124mph
bhp- 115
What are these figures like in comparison to other hot hatches?
Thanks

well whats the insurance group and we can tell u, my advise would be to get a few quotes for various cars you like including the cooper and compare
but in general the performance ain't too bad

i think they look very hairdresser esque
though im sure it wont be long Phil321 comes on humping them about being the best road car ever because such & such mag had a wánk over it.
in the end its down to personal taste and i dont like them style wise

I suppose the performance is ok, but I mean you're gonna get p1ssed on by TDi rep-mobiles e.g. Passats, Golfs, Mondeos.
Plus you're gonna have everyone looking at you thinking you're a girl - I know that's the only reason I look at new Minis!

Best reasonable insurance hot hatch money can buy plus you don't get the boy racer image. Oh, and the ladies love em!

O.K Mate- im getting my cooper s some time in may and i was originally going to get a cooper, been on loads of test drives so i reckon i can give you an honest opinion.
The cooper is a nice car- the performancei s not particularly impressive in a straight line, but when you get the revs up and take it round some twisty stuff they are real fun to drive.
Build quality was poor to start with, from all the mini forums im on this seems to have been ironed out on the newer builds.
My big problem with the cooper was the performance, the cooper s is not much more expensive, in fact if you go for a cooper loaded with extras it is actually more expensive than a loaded s- cos you get most of the extras included in the price of an s.
Insurance will be expensive for you though on an s.....if you do get a cooper your gonna be able to sell it in a couple of years, upgrade to an s and you wont lose much money- resale value is incredibly high
Just go and book yourself a testdrive- dont rely on people on a corsa site for an honest opinion, or from magazines.....you might hate it when you drive it, personally i was hooked after spending a couple of hours in the car--its not the greatest hot hatch around, but people calling it 'wank' clearly have no clue.
OH- and at the end of the day dont listen to people saying its a girly car- if you like it go for it........corsas are hardly muscle cars are they?

Agreed hardly blistering performance, but its only a 1.6 16v and those figures almost mirror those of the m3/4 Golf GTi 2.0 8v. I cant see a VTS/106 GTi being much quicker top end.

The cooper is fun to drive definately--- I quickly realised that i was going to be dissapointed by the straight line acceleration

Second hand prices are very strong---cooper s are going for close to a new one due to the demand----ive been waiting 3 months on my s order- probably wont get it till end of may/start of june

driven my ex-girlfriends mini on a few occasions and the only thing it had going for it was a good solid feeling to it when you throw it into a bend.
been out in a standard cooper-s which was not as quick as i expected.
IN MY OPINION they are wank

They certainly handle well, but I doubt I could live with the limp-wristed acceleration and Noddy/Toytown interior
